Qu'est-ce que le hockey ?

Le hockey – ou « hockey sur gazon », comme on l'appelle aussi pour le distinguer du hockey sur glace – est un sport qui se joue à 11 contre 11 sur un terrain de 100 yards sur 60 yards (91,4 m x 55 m), avec une balle d'une circonférence de 23 cm.

Chaque joueur utilise une crosse dotée d'une tête arrondie pour manier la balle, l'objectif ultime étant de marquer des buts en propulsant celle-ci dans le but de l'équipe adverse.

Si vous pratiquez le football, vous constaterez que bon nombre de compétences et d'aspects de la compréhension du jeu sont transposables.

What is Hockey?

Hockey - or "field hockey" as it is also known (to differentiate it from ice hockey) - is an 11-a-side game played on a pitch 100 yards by 60 yards (91.4 meters x 55 meters) with a ball that has a 23cm circumference.

Each player has a stick with a rounded head to play the ball with the ultimate aim of scoring goals by putting the ball in the other team's goal.

For those who play football, you will find a lot of the skills and understanding of the game are transferable.

Les deux joueurs lancent les dés, le score le plus élevé remporte le ballon. Même score ? Roulez encore ! Après avoir effectué 4 passes consécutives, entrez dans le cercle et tirez au but :	Both players roll the dice, the highest score wins the ball. Same score? Roll again! After making 4 consecutive passes, enter the circle and take a shot at goal:

Si le match se solde par un match nul et que vous souhaitez désigner un vainqueur, vous pouvez le décider aux tirs au but.

Une série de 5 tirs, suivie d'une mort subite si nécessaire.

Autre option : si vous disposez de plus de temps, prévoyez une prolongation et continuez à jouer !

If the game is a draw at the end and you want to have a winner, you can decide the game on penalty strokes.

Best of 5 strokes and sudden death thereafter.

Alternatively, if you have more time, decide on a period of extra time and carry on!
