GAUGE:
22 sts and 25 rows = 4" in Cable Pattern with 2 strands of yarn held together.
Take time to save time, check your gauge.
SPECIAL TERMS:
m1: (make 1) Insert LH needle under horizontal strand between st just worked and next st, from the front to the back, knit through the back loop (1 st increased).
C6B: Slip 3 sts to cn and hold in back; k3; k3 from cn.
k2tog: Knit 2 sts together (1 st decreased).
p2tog: Purl 2 sts together (1 st decreased).
C5B: Slip 2 sts to cn and hold in back; k3; k2 from cn.
PATTERN STITCHES:
1 x 1 Rib: (multiple of 2 sts)
Row 1: (RS) *K1, p1; rep from * to end.
Row 2: Knit the knit sts and purl the purl sts as they face you.
Rep row 2 for 1 x 1 Rib.
Stockinette Stitch (St st): Knit on RS, purl on WS.
Cable Pattern: (multiple of 7 sts + 4) (also, see chart)
Rows 1, 5 and 7: (RS) P2, *k6, p1; rep from * to last 2 sts, p2.

RISE
With 2 strands of yarn held together, CO 80 sts.
(RS) Begin 1 x 1 Rib; work even for 3 rows, end after a RS row.
Change to St st and Inc Row:
(WS) Inc 8 sts evenly across as follows: K5, m1, *k10, m1; rep from * to last 5 sts, k5 88 sts.
Change to Cable Patt; work even until pc meas approx 61⁄2" from beg, ending after row 8 of Cable Patt.
CROWN
Row 1: P2, *k2, k2tog, k2, p1, rep from * to last 2 sts, p2 76 sts rem.
Rows 2 and 4: Knit the knit sts and purl the purl sts as they face you.
Row 3: P2, *C5B, p1; rep from * to last 2 sts, p2.
Row 5: P2, * k1, k2tog; rep from * to last 2 sts, p2 52 sts rem.
Row 6: K1, *p2tog; rep from * to last st, k1 27 sts rem.
FINISHING
Break yarn leaving a 12" tail, and with a tapestry needle thread through rem sts.
Sew seam.
Block pc if desired.
